Born in the Netherlands and raised in South Africa, Ghislaine began her design journey studying interior design at Philadelphia University.  After graduating and moving to New York City, she started out designing commercial office spaces and later established her firm in 1999 when commissioned to do a complete build-out of a 9,000 sq-ft office and art gallery in the Starrett Lehigh Building in New York’s Chelsea art district. Since then the studio has completed many residential, commercial and hospitality projects ranging from apartments, townhouses, lofts, offices and even a coffee shop in New York City, to offices and homes in Los Angeles, New Jersey, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and a private yacht in Florida.

Ghislaine is driven daily by her passion for design, color and unique attitude towards problem-solving. Her team thrives on collaboration and experimentation in conceiving design solutions for clients, whether it be residential, hospitality or commercial projects.

Through the years Ghislaine Viñas has been commissioned to design an extensive collection of custom pieces for their clients and also has several product lines ranging from wallpapers at Flavor Paper to furniture for Loll Designs.  Ghislaine Viñas’ product design continues to grow and pushes the boundaries of color, scale, and form with expansion into furniture, textiles, and lighting.

Ghislaine Viñas’ work has been featured extensively in both national and international publications including Interior Design Magazine, Vogue, Dwell, The New York Times, New York Magazine, Departures, Frame, Elle Decor Japan, England and Mexico and Architectural Digest in Russia, to name a few.  She has also graced the covers of many magazines including Interior Design, Array, Casaviva, and Architektur & Wohnen.

Ghislaine has won the Interior Design Best of Year Award in 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2015, as well as taking home the Interior Design Best of Year Merit Award in the residential category in 2007, 2008, 2011 and 2016. The firm was also awarded the prestigious Benjamin Moore Hue Award in 2010 for their use of color in residential interiors, and has appeared on various television programs including HGTV, Open House New York and IDTV’s “Designing New York”.   Ghislaine has lectured at many colleges and universities around the country including SCAD, Parsons, Keane University, Virginia Commonwealth University, and CCNY to name but a few.

Ghislaine currently lives in TriBeCa, New York with her husband and two children.
